Methodology
What the Career Diagnosis actually measures.
No black box. Six dimensions, one overall score, and the reasoning behind every number — built from how the hiring side actually reads candidates, not from keyword matching.
The premise: diagnosis before prescription
Most job-search tools start with the rewrite. We don’t — because most candidates aren’t losing on the writing. They’re losing on positioning: the wrong target, a buried strength, a story that doesn’t match the role. Rewriting a resume before diagnosing the real blocker is painting over a crack. So every Resume Annex journey starts with the same step a good recruiter takes: read the candidate the way the hiring side will, and name what’s actually in the way.
The six dimensions
Market Positioning
Do you look like the person for the roles you want?
The most common silent killer. Strong experience aimed at the wrong target — or presented under the wrong framing — reads as "qualified for a different job." This dimension measures how coherently your materials point at a specific market.
Recruiter Clarity
Can a screener understand you in the first pass?
Recruiters form a first read in seconds. This measures whether your title, headline, and structure answer the three questions every screener asks: what do you do, at what level, and what do you want next.
Role Alignment
How well do you match the specific role (when you provide one)?
Against a real job description, this measures the gap between what the role requires and what your materials demonstrate — including the requirement the hiring manager is actually nervous about.
Proof of Impact
Do you show results, or just responsibilities?
Listing duties tells a recruiter what your job was. Evidence of outcomes tells them what you will do for them. This measures how much of your story is backed by demonstrated results.
Keyword Signal
Will you surface in the searches that matter?
Not keyword stuffing — signal. This measures whether the terms recruiters and systems actually search for your target role are present and truthful in your materials. It supports the diagnosis; it is not the diagnosis.
Interview Conversion
When you get the conversation, are you set up to convert it?
Positioning problems follow you into the interview. This measures how well your materials set up the story you will have to tell in the room — and flags the questions your background will invite.
The six dimensions roll up into your overall Career Intelligence Score, and the weakest dimension becomes your #1 blocker — the thing to fix first. Both are free, for everyone.
How the analysis works
1. Your resume is read in full
Structure, targets, evidence, and narrative — the way a person reads it, not a keyword counter. Add a job description and the analysis runs against that specific role.
2. Each dimension is scored with its reasoning
Every score comes with an explanation and the evidence behind it. If we say clarity is your blocker, you see exactly what was unclear.
3. The diagnosis names your #1 blocker
One priority, not a wall of tips. The full report adds the recruiter-lens review, your benchmark against comparable candidates, and the prioritized fix plan.
4. The tools execute the plan
Resume optimization explains every change it proposes — you approve each one, and it never invents experience. Job discovery and interview prep work from the same diagnosis.
What we deliberately don’t do
- No fabrication. The AI improves your language, never your facts. It will not add experience you don’t have.
- No keyword stuffing. Gaming a parser gets you a first-pass look and a second-pass rejection.
- No auto-applying. Resume Annex finds and ranks roles; you decide where your name goes.
- No guarantees of interviews. No honest platform can promise outcomes. We improve the quality, targeting, and clarity of your search so you compete with a system instead of a guess.
